- Undergraduate Research Assistants (RAs) have the opportunity to work on the following:
- literature searches (e.g., looking for existing research on a topic we are interested in)
- annotated bibliographies (e.g., taking notes on existing research)
- preparation of manuscripts to submit for publication consideration in peer reviewed journals (e.g., helping with reference sections and APA style
formatting)
- preparation of grant applications to submit to foundations and to the federal government
- explore and conduct research of personal interest, in the form of fellowship proposals and conference presentations
- There are additional ways to be involved in the lab, depending on the projects that are currently in progress. For example, in the summer and fall of 2016, RAs worked extensively on our pilot study Project CaLM, which involved recruiting families (e.g., visiting preschools to invite parents to join our study), collecting data (e.g., visiting preschools to administer self-regulation assessments on children), and entering data (e.g., coding and entering data into SPSS).
- Loyola Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (LUROP) is another great way to get involved in psychology and research where you conduct your own research under a mentor.
- If you are interested in becoming an undergraduate research assistant in the SEEDS lab, please email your resume and application to Maria Radulescu at [email protected](lab manager) and Jema Chepkoit at [email protected](project coordinator).
- We accept applications throughout the year. Interviews for selected applicants will be held at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters. New RAs generally start at the beginning of the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, depending on availability. Apply today!
